Vice President for Research

Environmental Health and Safety provides services to protect the health and safety of the university community. These services include occupational safety, radiation safety, biological safety (including the Institutional Biosafety Committee), how to ship and dispose hazardous materials, reporting incidents, and more.

The Human Research Protection Program (HRPP) reviews all research projects that involve human subjects. The HRPP is an institutional-wide program responsible for protecting the rights and welfare of participants in research conducted or reviewed at the university.

The Office of Research Integrity & Compliance (ORIC) is responsible for providing oversight to the university's Institutional Review Board (IRB), Conflict-of-Interest policy, evaluations of Research Misconduct, Research Education and Training, Resource for Genetic and Epidemiologic Research (RGE), and the Institutional Biosafety Committee.

The Office of Institutional Animal Care & Use Committee (IACUC) oversees and evaluates all aspects of the University of Utah’s animal care and use program. The University is committed to responsible and ethical research and follows rigorous guidelines to meet the highest standards of animal welfare.
