Dear Colleagues,
The VPR Office is seeking an experienced Sr. Grant Writer (Research Dev Associate III) to provide full grant/proposal writing support for a new campus-wide grant-development unit – the Large Infrastructure Funding Team (LIFT). LIFT is designed to build and support response teams for center, program, and other large-scale, interdisciplinary grant opportunities. For example, LIFT will organize and coordinate responses to NSF Engineering Research Centers (ERCs), Science and Technology Centers (STCs), and Mid-Scale Research Infrastructure-1 (Mid-Scale R1) RFAs. LIFT will also build and guide teams responding to Department of Defense (DOD), Department of Energy (DOE), Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR), National Institutes of Health (NIH), National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH), National Endowment for the Arts (NEA), and other large-scale Federal, State, and Foundation funding calls. Optimally, LIFT will have between 9 and 15 major grant applications in progress at any time. These grants typically require multiple components such as multi-university partnerships, industry partnerships, interdisciplinary collaboration, and expertise in curating a diverse, equitable, and inclusive research environment.
The Sr. Grant Writer will organize and manage all grant writing components/campaigns for these large-scale, interdisciplinary grant opportunities. A central responsibility of this position is to facilitate and manage the preparation of complex research proposals as it relates to proposal writing, key component development, alignment of PIs/key personnel/University voices, etc.
The Senior Grant Writer will collaborate with PIs and other grant opportunity leaders/staff to identify quality gaps in content/grant writing, lead writing campaigns, develop writing timelines, etc. to ensure proposals/grant content submitted on behalf of LIFT are highly competitive, innovative, and efficient. It is essential that the Senior Grant Writer can interpret requests-for-proposals/applications from external sponsors. Strong applicants will have significant experience in interpreting grant requirements and guidelines, and experience reading and translating technical science to be more accessible for dissemination.
